For Nannies and Caregivers Currently Outside of Canada
You must first make sure you qualify under the Live-In Caregiver Program.
You may register online or you may wish to register through an agent in the country you currently reside in.
Once you are registered, we will contact either you or our agent to confirm your application.
Your completed application will be posted on our database, accessible by employers all over Canada.
If and when an employer is interested in a possible interview with you, we will conduct a phone interview (conference call between you, the employer and a NannyNanny.ca agent).
If hired, we will process all of the paperwork on behalf of the employer to receive a positive Labour Market Opinion.
Processing the Labour Market Opinion usually takes about one 3-5 weeks. Once approved, you may hire an immigration consultant from Aptus Immigration to represent you on your work permit application. They will advise, prepare and submit your work permit application to the Canadian Embassy or Consulate abroad.
At this point, you will need to complete a medical exam and a security background check.
Processing times for receiving your Work Permit vary depending on which country you are from and the Embassy or Consulate to which we are applying. Once your Work Permit is ready to be issued, you may be called in for an interview with an immigration officer to issue your Work Permit.
For Nannies and Caregivers Currently In Canada on the Live-In Caregiver Program
You must register online with NannyNanny.ca.
Our agents will contact you to confirm your application and fill in any missing details.
Once an inquiry has been made regarding your profile, we will notify you and schedule an interview between you and the employer directly. Interviews are usually held at the employers private home.
If you are hired, we will file for a Labour Market Opinion on behalf of your employer.
Once we receive a positive Labour Market Opinion we will provide you with the forms you need to make the change from your previous employer to the new one.
An application to "Change Terms and Conditions" is submitted to Alberta where it is then processed for approval. It will take about one to two (1-2) months before you will receive your new Work Permit, at which point you will be able to start working with your new employer. For those employers who are in a rush to have a nanny/caregiver begin work right away, we may be able to apply at a local visa office (conditions may apply).
For Nannies and Caregivers Currently In Canada as Visitors but wish to remain as Live-In Caregivers
You must have been allowed into Canada legally.
You must have been allowed to stay in Canada for at least one (1) year (since visitor visas are only issued for up to six (6) months at a time, you must have applied for an extension of your visitor visa before it expires, and be approved for another six (6) months). To find out whether you qualify to apply for a Live-In Caregiver Work Permit from within Canada, please contact our immigration department at 1-888-89-NANNY ext. 3
You may wish to register with NannyNanny.ca if you do not already have a job offer.
We will apply on behalf of your employer for a Labour Market Opinion, this takes approximately 3-5 weeks. Once approved, we may begin preparing your application for a Work Permit.
At this point you will go through a medical exam and a security background check.
Once your application for a Work Permit is complete you must file it outside Canada (since Canada does not accept Work Permit applications within Canada, if you have a visitor visa to the United States, you may wish to apply in Buffalo.
If you do not have a United States visitor visa, you must apply in your home country - this may take many months and will require an interview).
Once your application for a Work Permit is approved, you may continue to stay and work in Canada.
